Inclusion Matters

How much media do you have on your web site? Is your media inclusive of people with hearing loss or who are blind, or anyone without access to the sound or visual?

Did you know that accessibility legislation is being enacted both locally and internationally? With an estimate 90% of internet content becoming video based by 2012, there's a lot to be done.

From Our Clients: Advancing Accessibility

We recently captioned a panel discussion that focused on "Advancing Accessibility in a World of Competing Interests and Limited Resources", for University of Guelph's Aiming for Accessibility Conference organizing committee,.

The discussion covered the upcoming Information and Communication Standard of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and providing accessibility in educational settings in particular. You can watch the discusson panel video. We highly recommend this video for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of (and soon to be enacted) standard!

Athol Gow, Co-ordinator of the Library Centre for Students With Disabilities at The University of Guelph, sent along some generous comments about our captioning that, modest as we are, we couldn't resist sharing:

"Our organizing committee was impressed with your quick turnaround, helpful customer service and desire to make the captioning as faithful to the dialogue as possible. The final video was provided to us in multiple formats supporting a wide range of platforms and players at no additional cost. We will certainly use your services again, especially for large or demanding projects where precision and accuracy are critical."

Thanks, Athol! We're looking forward to the next Aiming For Accessibility two day conference, coming June 8th and 9th.

The most recent addition is a fun and insightful animated video from Caroline Ting called RAM. It's an exploration of kids and their relationship (and dependenices) with an increasingly digital world. The video is a great classroom discussion starter, and the captions make an already engaging video even better.
